Neo Geo Roms Full Set 181 Games Free Download VERIFIED Neo Geo is an arcade platform video game system that was introduced in 1990 by SNK. It was the first video game console to use mostly interchangeable cartridges, which allowed players to easily try out games without having to wait for lengthy software installation procedures. The player would insert a cartridge into the top of the Neo Geo console, close it, and it would boot up directly into the game. The Neo Geo had a wide variety of hardware revisions throughout its lifetime spanning 16 years, finally ceasing sales in 2003 following weak sales worldwide during its last year of manufacture. Production of video game hardware ended in 2004. However, the MVS and AES continued to be supported at game rooms and via emulation, and its library contains many popular arcade games such as "King of Fighters", "Samurai Shodown" and "Metal Slug". The original games continue to be sold by SNK and third-party vendors under an exclusive license from SNK. The Neo Geo was succeeded by the Hyper Entertainment System (HES) line of arcade hardware. The last licensed game for the system was released in 2003. There were six different versions of the Neo Geo overall, but three major revisions were made overall using several different forms of hardware that are compatible with one another in most cases. The "Neo Geo" name is derived from the original hardware's ability to use up to four arcade cartridges to play arcade games. The first version of the system was branded as "Neo Geo". This unit allowed for games to be played by two players, but feature fewer titles than the next two models. The second version of the hardware was branded as "Neo Geo Pocket Color" and featured many more titles, but lacked a screen. Thirdly, there was a version that was released twice. The first time around it was simply known as the Neo-Geo. This hardware allowed up to four players to play against each other. However, it lacked color palettes for sprites, ending up with some characters looking drastically different. Finally, there was a fourth system that was released called Neo Geo CD. This version of the hardware also had more features than the third version, but was incompatible with almost all older games. SNK released several versions of Neo Geo hardware at various points throughout its lifespan. However, only three major revisions have been made for the system. The first revision is known as the "Neo Geo" and was released in 1990. The Neo Geo featured a 2×2 button configuration that was not very popular with gamers because it requires the use of two hands to play most games whereas other systems at the time often have four buttons that can be used by one hand. Most games were also designed with SNK's MVS arcade system in mind, which meant that they were poor fits for home consoles. This model was succeeded by the Neo Geo CD (see below). eccc085e13
