Grateful towards her care for him, Surinder buys a new car for her and often takes her to the movie theatre to watch Hindi films as Taani has a passion of romance and dance. Later, Taani finds a poster of a dance competition in Amritsar and asks Surinder to let her participate in it, to which, he agrees and even helps her pay the fees. Surinder subsequently asks Bobby for some grooming advice which could help him win Taani's love by converting her back into a happy-go-lucky girl. Being a hair-salon owner, Bobby gives Surinder a complete makeover - which includes making him not use his spectacles, trimming off his moustache, changing his hairstyle into a fashionable spiky style and fitting him out in funky Western-style clothing with aviator-style shades and oversize pastel contact lenses, including a motorcycle to help him become a macho.
While the story was about love, friendship, and heartbreaks, there were instances when many of us must have thought of a completely different ending to the movie. Anushka portrayed the role of Taani Surinder Sahni and Shah Rukh played the role of Surinder Sahni and Raj Kapoor. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi revolves around Surinder, a simple man who falls for a vivacious Tani and gets married to her. In order to impress her, he undergoes a complete makeover and becomes Raj who is loud and fun-loving and a total opposite of Surinder. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi tells a story from the point of view of an ordinary person and, most importantly, conveys a message that being 'ordinary' is cool. It showed the actual meaning of true love and that looks don't matter when you truly love someone.

Like SRK does a 360 degree turn in the movie, Aditya Chopra too does a complete turn as far as the story is concerned. Seeped in Indian emotions and traditional values and very desi at heart, RAB NE BANA DI JODI is a complete departure from the good-looking, picture perfect YRF movies that sport glam bodies parading designer outfits.
